Melody is a Licensed Professional Counselor and received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2015. She has worked in social service agencies since 1997, including working with children and families involved with the foster care system and adults living with serious and persistent mental illness.  For the past five years Melody has worked as a case manager and therapist at a community mental health agency providing individual and group therapy to young adult and adult clients.

Melody strives to offer a therapy space that is safe, non-judging, affirming and welcoming to everyone. She is continuously in awe of the resilience and strength that people find within themselves when experiencing challenges and of the courage it takes to seek out support and help. She helps clients to develop a caring and compassionate inner voice and teaches skills such as mindfulness and attention to self-care.

Melody uses a variety of therapy techniques, matched to client’s needs and therapy goals.

Melody uses person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) models, as well as a strengths-based approach to help each client identify both strengths and solutions to the issues they bring to session.

Melody has facilitated trauma group therapy (TREM) and is trained in and provides EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy to address PTSD and intrusive symptoms of trauma experiences.

Melody also has experience working with older adults in individual therapy to address issues specific to life transitions and depression and anxiety in older individuals.
