    About Kelly Childs

During one of our family trips to Colorado five years ago, I discovered Kaiut yoga. This discovery changed everything for me. I realized after classes that I felt like my body and mind were being unwound. In a Kaiut class, on the floor, holding simple poses from the joints with my eyes closed, I started to take outward thoughts inward. Living in a society of constant comparison, I realized that not only was my body not like anyone else’s, my right hip wasn’t even like my left hip! I felt like an inner grip that with every bit of tension from life was loosening its hold and opening up.

I only had one problem: there were no Kaiut classes in St. Louis. With a background in Comparative Religion, corporate experience on Wall Street, and many not-for-profit posts, I turned a corner in 2017 to become a Certified Kaiut Yoga teacher training with Francisco Kaiut. We have been offering Kaiut Yoga in St. Louis since 2018 and are in the process of developing Kaiut Yoga St. Louis.

    About Lori Zucker

If you would have told me two years ago I would be teaching yoga, I would have told you that was preposterous. I still have trouble with the idea that I am a Kaiut yoga instructor. This is proof of the statement “Kaiut is yoga for everyone.”

My prior yoga experience is zero, my prior moving much off the couch is zero, so please believe me when I say this yoga has changed my life, it might sound overly dramatic but it is so true.

In November 2017, I lost my 11-year-old daughter to a 9-year battle with cancer. I was in a very deep hole and did not see much of a way out. When my friend, now my teacher invited me to “help her” practice teaching this new kind of yoga, little did I know that this was exactly what I needed. The added mobility I have gained in the last two years of practicing Kaiut has been wonderful, but for me the ability to get out of my thoughts, and my grief for an hour has been life altering. I had been attending 4-5 classes a week and when the opportunity came for me to go to teacher training I did not hesitate. I am now a certified Kaiut Yoga Instructor, studying under Francisco Kaiut and my teacher Kelly Childs. I am honored to be teaching in St. Louis and have been loving every moment of it.
