As the Tibetan and lunar new year approaches, it is said that the last days of the year are marked by accidents and mishaps because we are not being as mindful. The period before Shambhala Day, or Tibetan New Year, is referred to as the “dön season,” because such sudden losses of mindfulness can be more common. During this time it’s recommended that we keep life simple, be very mindful and practice as much as possible, specifically reciting a chant called “Pacifying the Turmoil of the Mamos.” Doing these things together helps purify the karmic causes of personal, social and environmental chaos that accumulates at year’s end. So we chant.
This practice is open to all. There is no charge, but a donation basket will be available. Generosity is a very powerful force.
